Anyone see themselves here?
Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 08:48 PM by fleabert
www.bitterwaitress.com (the 'shitty tipper database' is where I looked for myself, even though I think I tip well, talk about self-conscious!)
www.waiterrant.blogspot.com
www.stainedapron.com

I have checked out bitterwaitress and did not find myself, I was worried since I am extremely picky and often have special requests...but I tip 20% unless the service absolutely sucks. I also used to wait tables and understand the difference between the service and the quality of the food. How I wish I had had these venting sites when I was waiting tables! I'd love to see a complimentary site telling everyone how great I am despite my obsession with things 'on the side'!

There is a whole section about kids/families and restaurants...thought it was pertinent with the recent threads/polls about that issue.

2. While in the netherlands
Last summer, in Amsterdam, I tipped a waiter 15% without even thinking about it. Tipping is not customary in dutch culture and usually they just round up the bill to the next Euro for a tip, but I had just had one of the best meals i'd had in Europe and wasn't even thinking correctly.

The guy was very appreciative. I believe that they do pay their waitstaff a minimum wage comparable to any other job (unlike the crime they get away with here in the USA) but it was fun to see a smile on this guy's face. Maybe he had kids or a family to feed or something.
