So I'm flying to California tomorrow
Will it be a smoldering wasteland when my plane arrives? Or is this election over-hyped?

I'm also trying to decide how restrained I should be, should the election come up as a subject of conversation between me and the folks at Stanford. Is it bad form to slap them upside the head and yell "WHAT were you thinking???" :)

Since they pay part of my salary I guess I better be polite....

2. Thanks! Wish I could stay longer.
Unfortunately this is a fly-out-and-come-right-back trip, so no sightseeing on the agenda this time.

The last two times out I managed to watch a couple of amazing sunsets, watched the seals (sea lions?) off Fisherman's Wharf, rode the Tramway in Palm Springs, and spent a beautiful afternoon at Joshua Tree National Park.

This time I'll probably just get to see the inside of a hotel room. Oh well. Hopefully my spirits will be lifted by news of a failed recall.

3. Try to vote and ask all to vote
It is momemtous and we all need to get out the vote. Welcome to the California circus. We have DU celebrations planned in So Cal and No Cal. I refuse to think of the alternative.

5. Not sure that voting would be a good idea
I live in (and am registered to vote in) Maryland. :)

I'll be arriving after the polls close, so the deed will be done by the time I unpack. Hopefully I'll find a celebration somewhere near my hotel. (thinking positive here....)

I need to find a "No on Recall" button.

4. Depends if your meeting is inside Hoover Institute
Inside the Hoover Tower, you'll have to wear your Arnold button
(of course they are more conservative than that....
maybe they're for McClintock) and on the campus
you can root for No on the recall.

Depends on who's paying your salary Ivory Tower....

6. Nah, it's science people
In fact, the last time I was out there, this one guy I pegged for a right-winger surprised me with his vehement opposition to the Iraq Invasion (I was in Cali when Baghdad fell).

So you never know.
