I am scared and depressed here in Cali. Please send hope.
Really, I am shaking, getting nervous about tomorrow's recall and what I know will be a Nazi theft of our votes. Even those of us who cast absentee have to wonder who is counting our votes, and if they are changing them or destroying them.

I need a few words of hope, if anybody is offering any. If we get another election stolen out from under us, either through fraud or just plain public ignorance, I don't know how I will get through this all over again...and I have a little boy to take care of.

I am losing faith in everything. Anybody want to lift my spirits?

1. I think Davis will prevail
Edited on Mon Oct-06-03 05:59 PM by barbaraann
because I am seeing pre-spinning of a possible loss by the media.

I think it might end up in a recount/court challenge situation, though.

and I think it'll get voted down. I really think people are starting to see this for what it really is: a power grab. It'll be close, but we will come through just fine.

I'm resigned to it, if it happens. Makes you wonder about democracy, doesn't it?

32. In CA, also....
...we have hope that Democracy will prevail in our State....IT MUST.

...if not, we will consider ourselves living in a State of Emergency and will tie a black flag with the large letters 'SOS' on the antennae of all of our vehicles and hang a black flag at the front of our home.

4. I have no idea
what will happen. I can imagine your are afraid, this is just awful. When I awake in the morning in Kansas you will probably still be asleep (if you can) and I will send a burst of good feelings and vibes for you and all of you in California. I don't know what else to do at this point, I have called and emailed everyone I know.

5. Don't be fooled by the "huge" crowds who are turning out for Arnold
They keep saying huge crowds of followers are turning out for him, but I wonder how many in the crowds are merely curious to see a celebrity movie star?.....I can't believe the majority of Californians will vote for this big goon!....

10. Hilarious sign
On the Yahoo news page this morning - they had a picture of Arnold holding a sign that said "Democrat Women for Arnold"

A real Democrat of course would have written "Democratic" only a right-wing person would use the term coined by Newt Gingrich!

What a phony!

But they were handed out at the door by the Ahnuld campaign - they made people hand over their own signs.

6. You know what? I just don't think this will work out badly...
My superstitious nature won't let me way more, but I really do think this is gonna be a big backfire for the Pugs.... That probably means that the recall vote will fail... Don't lose faith.

Put out positive vibes and many more will come back your way...

7. Casting votes
There are some unknowns in this race. With over 100 candidates - how many people are going to even find their candidate? How many will vote for the wrong one?
Answering a poll over the phone is one thing but actually voting?
Give it another day and if AS wins - let the lawsuits begin! There will be investigations into his ties with ENRON/Bush, there will be voting machine lawsuits, his victims will sue.

If he does win it would be bad bit something good may come of it. Everything that is discovered about AS will reflect back on Bush - the political ties, Enron, the cozy relationship between the Repub party and a first class woman assaulting pig (actually I like pigs and they are better than Arnold).

Ahnold will become the Republican/Nazi poster boy.

Hang in there - there is much more to come with this story.

12. Even if Arnold wins, he loses

There is way too much dirt on him now... there is more to his Nazi past than those comments... and his Enron connection is being exposed. That's why Drudge + Co are coming out against him now, at the last minute-- the neocons are about to get hammered. And the vote will be so closely monitored, we will certainly hear all about voting fraud, which is the most important thing of all, because it will wake up the people to what has become of our democracy...

The election is just the beginning of the end for the forces of evil!

13. Look on the bright side: it's lose-lose for the GOP
Edited on Mon Oct-06-03 06:37 PM by 0rganism
Suppose the recall fails. Well, then, you're back where you were last week. No problem, and the GOP thugs wasted millions campaigning for a failed cause.

Let's say the recall goes through. Okay, Gray Davis would be gone, but who would replace him? Let's say it's Cruz Bustamante. Well, then, you've got basically the same setup as before, with a different guy running the show. He probably won't do any worse than Davis, overall. Once again, the GOP wastes its money.

Now suppose Ahnold wins. This, you might think, is a horrible thing, to have the gropenator elected to the governorship, and probably your main concern at this time. However, consider what this does to the overall political scene.
1) the GOP worked its ass off just to get a moderate dumbass celebrity into office, which will discourage the base
2) he starts off with Gray Davis' cabinet
3) he'll be facing indictments on at least a few of those groper allegations
4) the more critical expose's of his Enron dealings are yet to come
5) the Democratic base will be ENRAGED -- expect a recall of Schwarzenegger within 6 months
6) Arnold's going to find out the hard way that the CA legislature is Democratic in both senses of the word
7) he's wading into a budget shitstorm with ZERO experience, and will probably make a total idiot out of himself

An Arnold governorship is a net loss for the GOP. True, he might let Enron off the hook, which would be a catastrophe, but that's not a done deal by any means. What is practically guaranteed is that he'll be a total disgrace to the republicans, and won't be much help to george bush winning a second term.

The only way the GOP could get ANYTHING substantial out of this would be by electing McClintock, but they decided to bet most of the chips on an empty figurehead rather than a real conservative. A McClintock victory is your only real fear, and that seems quite unlikely at this point, about as likely as Camejo winning. After Issa and Ueberoth dropped out, most of your real problems evaporated.

Don't sweat it. Things are much brighter than they seem right now.

heres the best quote ever

17. I think
the sky will be green tomorrow, Britney Spears will wake up with talent, and Fox really is fair and balanced.

And the tooth fairy's coming, and Edie Falco didn't deserve the Emmy, and the war was fair, and blah blah blah.

Face it. We're gonna wake up Wednesday morning with a Governator. California is electing a prom king. And of course prom king's are usually dumb jocks.

I may not like it, I may be embarassed to live here now, I may be sorry Ariana dropped out, but Arnold's gonna win, and there's not much we can do except sit back and hope he uses lots of lube...

the Bay Area, come by and hang and eat food with us. :)

I don't drink or do drugs, so that leaves food for the relief of my anxiety. I'm baking extra fudgie BROWNIES with walnuts right -- that tells you how stressed I am about tomorrow!

As mentioned above, even if Arnie wins, I think he will self-destruct quickly. Which could be kind of fun to watch.

Maybe we'll end up with Governor Bustamante after all!

of the recall vote, DU will still be here.

The political impact of DU may be negligible, but the social impact is tremendous. As long as there is a DU there will be a source, a network for you of comfort, of support and of friendship. Let us be your lifeline, even if it's bleak. Let us share your joy if the outcome is favourable.

27. Hey Rev aren't you up in the central valley?
That area is going to go solidly for McClintock as will MUCH of Simi Valley.

I am not certain what will happen but I know that whatever happens the Repubs are FUCKED because Governor Davis signed a whole SLEW of liberal legislation these past few weeks that he might have dragged his feet on otherwise. Either way, the recall was good for liberals...if we lose...we lose to a guy who could ONLY get votes in California by appearing to be a moderate Democrat...if we win..WE TURNED DAVIS INTO A FLAMING LIBERAL along the way :D

33. I'm in San Diego county
North part of county, real redneck right wing area, so that might explain my depression. We feel pretty isolated here!!! I'm supposed to be a spiritual person, but right now, I feel like human greed and corruption has all the energy.

Not to mention sheer ignorance.

My little boy is taping up my computer desk, so I guess all I can do today is focus on him and the future.

THANKS EVERYONE. I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

Can't worry about something that hasn't happened yet.
Let's envision a no on the recall, Arnold and Tom
split the vote, Bustamante gets a good showing and
the other 130 candidates get at least 3 votes each.
