What Goes Through A Dog's Mind?
When I open the back door and let Mitzi go outside, she immediately starts sniffing the ground for a PERFECT spot. Around and around she goes... nose to the ground... searching and sniffing... back and forth... around and around.

"Here? No. How about here? Not quite. Where-where-where? Gotta keep looking! I gotta go so bad, but I can't find the right spot! Maybe here? Okay. Nope! I thought I was gonna, but I changed my mind. Let me take two more steps... HERE! Ahhhhh!"

My question is this: In her quest for the perfect spot, is she searching for a spot that needs more pee? Or a spot that's already HAS some pee smell... so she figures that since it's already been used, then it's as good a place as any?

I wish dogs could talk.

1. I think I would have to kill my dog if he could talk.
It would be nothing but "Hey, throw this. Hey, Hey, throw this."

2. I go for the HAS theory
I have two and they like to 'cover' the other ones spots. I'm tellin' though when we had that cold spell a couple of weeks ago, it was below 0, they just went, all that sniffin stuff didn't matter anymore. They got in the house so fast I thought they didn't go but there were no accidents so goes to show ya all that sniffin is just for fun.

3. If they're sniffing around while INSIDE your house...

It means they're peeing in your house while you're not looking.

At least that's what my cat tells me.

But then he HATES dogs.

5. I know what my dog is thinking
And it is food, food, treats, treats, play, play. Because my poor doggie is shut up in the house all day from 6 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., when I come home and let her out, she doesn't sniff for a good place to go, she just runs out the door and does her thing. But when I take her for a walk later on, it is the sniff, sniff thing until she finds the perfect spot.
