There are a lot of factors. Have you had any late payments?

756 should be excellent. I think 800 is perfect.

6. 850 is "perfect"
And next to impossible to get.

Anything above 720 is usually good enough to get you the best rates with most lenders.

3. I really screwed my credit up when I was in college ('98) and although
it's all paid off, I still have a low beacon...WTF do I have to do, to get it back up to where banks won't laugh at me when I need a loan?

5. You will have to look at each creditor
Call a banker or mortgage company and ask them to explain.
Do you have something on there which is not yours?
