Avoid "JUNIPER VISA" at all costs.
If you are shopping around for a credit card, and you carry a balance, please stay clear of Juniper Bank and its Visa card. In addition to its poor customer service, they hill jack your rate up at the drop of a hat, even if you are current on your payments. Mine was already at 15.9% and they just raised it to 22.9%! You may as well borrow money from a "check cashing store" Please avoid this usurious company if you know what's good for you.

1. I have no credit cards, haven't used a credit card in over 3 years
and will never use a credit card again. I paid off all debts when my husband died and I have no intention of ever getting back into debt as long as I'm alive.

2. What happened to usury laws?
No institution should be able to charge more than 2 per cent above prime. Anything more than that is usury. They used to throw people in jail for it.

I've stumbled through almost 46 years of life without ever having had a credit card. I refuse to answer their privacy-invading questions. They send me things in the mail saying that I've been preapproved for such-and-such card, so I call them up and say "OK, send it to me, since you have my address." Then they say they have a few questions re income, how long employed, blah blah blah, and I say, "I thought you said I was preapproved." Fucking capitalist shitheads.

So I take their postage-paid business reply envelopes and send the info from company #1 in an envelope from company #2, info from company #2 in an envelope from company #3, and so on, always leaving out anything that identifies me. I intend to break these companies eventually, fifty cents at a time, and I invite everyone else to do the same.

Yeah, it's probably not all that effective, but it makes me feel better, and that's what's really important, isn't it?

4. You can do better than that!
Add small lead weights (they're real cheap) to the envelopes so they cost more. You'll feel even better then.

5. Oh, I like that
Even cheaper would be a couple of pages of newspaper folded up. I like your way of thinking...not only would they be paying postage, but postage DUE!

Now you just pass this on to as many people as you can.

3. 22.9%? Amateurs.
Did you happen to see the Frontline doc "Secret History of the Credit Card"? I did, just the other night.

Some of these legal loan sharks charge as much as 29 percent! They also love to reel you in with promises of a low introductory rate, then sock you with the fine print: One late payment and the rate goes away.

By the way, did you know that you have a "credit score", one number that determines what credit you can get, and that it comes from only one obscure company, Fair Isaac of Minneapolis? :scared:
