4. In Firefox, if you click on a link with the scrolly-wheely thingy,
the page will open up in a tab. :D

Have I mentioned today how much I love Firefox?

11. You think that's cool! Try these Extensions:
Edited on Thu Feb-03-05 09:57 AM by brainshrub
Mouse Gestures 1.0
Allows you to execute common commands with the mouse. That doesn't sound like a big deal, but once you've tried it you don't go back. (For example, instead of clicking the "back" button to see the previous page, I hold my right-button down and make a quick mouse gesture to the left... and BAM ... I'm at the previous page. It makes surfing much faster.)
http://optimoz.mozdev.org/gestures/

Bug Me Not 0.6.1
Bypass compulsory web registration! Bwhahahahaha!!!! Just for this feature alone I would have switched to Firefox AND actually paid for the privilege.

Gmail Notifier 0.4
I'm still experimenting with Gmail... so far so good. :D I like the notifier.

There are many other Extensions I love, maybe later on today I will start a "my favorite Firefox extensions" thread.

31. Thanks !
I already have BugMeNot, but i was sceptical of the mouse gestures, Now I think I will give it a try !

I think the Firefox extensions thread would be a great idea ! This is what a browser is supposed to be.
I can't help but be reminded what a shitty product windoze is !

17. Yeah, that feature rules!
Did you also know that you can then automatically bookmark all your tabs at once into a folder? Just Ctrl+D (in windows), then click the checkbox to bookmark all tabs...

26. Which can be a bit of a gotcha
if you have a heavy finger on the wheel. I kept finding tabs with DU pages in them that I hadn't opened on purpose, and couldn't figure out how they got there until I thought about scrolling down over all those links...

I've been using Firefox for a couple of weeks now, and it was driving me crazy that i couldn't figure out how to make it just open up in another tab.

7. I love it
Have it on my home computer, but at work, I'm stuck with one of the ancient 'only has two buttons' kind :eyes:

Good news is, we're supposed to get new computers...someday.

16. My recollection is a tad fuzzy, but
I could swear Macs has mice (mouses?) before PCs.

As to how Mac dweebs do it, well, after 20 years, it's like breathing.

There *are* 2+ button mouse devices (deftly skirting figuring out the correct plural) for the Mac. I just never bothered to get one.

Inventory:
one original beige G3 tower, aging somewhat gracefully
one iMac, being used right now
one Wall Street PowerBook, with slight personality problems
one borrowed Dell Attitude notebook, holding up surprisingly well
two more Dell notebooks, on loan from the S.O.'s job
2 ancient Smithsonian-grade Powerbooks
one Windows tower, borrowed, seriously underpowered

In the works: one mac mini and a G5 book when they come out

Guess what we do for a living? :P

18. I have a hard time using my Mac without a two+ button mouse...
Of course, I use Final Cut a LOT, and two buttons are almost mandatory. But I have to say that OS X itself does a good job of only making one button necessary.

33. mac brother, you are missing out
cast off your mac standard mouse, and purchase a nice logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo...it comes with scroll wheel and double buttons, ALL of which are integrated into (most) mac programs

19. I'm not even old skool and I remember using computers before there
was a mouse attached to one.

But I love my mouse now, and I love the scroll wheel.

Apple mice: easy to use with one button, thanks to the Mac OS forcing developers to show some thought in implementing their menus.

25. I hate mice without scroll wheels now.
It makes text editing, zooming in graphics applications, and web browsing MUCH easier. I've also gotten used to using a 5-button mouse (click on the wheel is button 3, to switch windows; buttons 4 and 5 on either side, back and forward in web browser).
