I saw geese flying NORTH today!
These weren't low-level geese, either, but way, way, WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY up there geese. Additional good news to report: it was cloudy here all day, so no groundhogs saw their shadows.

I can almst feel the warm breezes wafting through the trees aleady...

:P

1. Good news? I think that's bad
it's so unseasonally warm here in Seattle that even trees are starting to bloom - weeks ahead of schedule - there is no snow pack, and we might go into a drought.

3. Where are you?
In Maryland it was clear and sunny, so I guess the groundhogs saw their shadows.

We usually get a ton of snow in the NE in Feb. and March. Is it like that where you live (Chicago?)?

Most of our snow comes in Feb. & March, and it's usually wet.

6. Oh, oh...conflicting signals here.
Pawxatawney Phil saw his shadow...so, that means that we're supposed to have 6 more weeks of winter.

BUT...you saw geese flying North.

Well, I'll take YOUR news, Paddy. :-)

7. Mine's more local, Terry.
Who do you trust--- a Pennsylvania rodent, or a Sout' Side Irish guy?

10. He ALWAYS sees his shadow.
With all those TV cameras (and lights) around, it's no surprise. I can't remember the last time old Phil DIDN'T see it!

11. He always looks annoyed, too.
What kind of forecast can you expect from a pissed-off groundhog?

:P

if you were enjoying a nice nap, all warm and cozy, and some guy sticks his fat hand into your crib, grabs you by the scruff of the neck, pulls you up into the cold day and dangles you in mid-air as a crowd of loud people stare at you and holler.

12. Scary news:
Landscapers in Seattle are having to mow more than once a month (the increase is usually slated for March) because our winter has been so warm. i was working on my farmer's tan today out at the nursery.

13. Yes, our lawn is starting to grow
it was very pleasant and warm today, but the ski areas are really suffering and I can see very little snow on the Cascades. It could mean a bad fire season, too.
