Is there anything cool around Daytona Beach, or is it stripmall hell?
I'm going to visit the parents for a few days and was wondering if there are any cool bars/resaurants in the area, or is it just endless Arby's and Friday's chains? We're looking for maybe a cabana bar on the beach with a Caribbean/Floridian feel. We'll be missing Bike Week (thankfully). I am only familiar with Miami/Lauderdale/Boca and have never been up this way. Please help!

3. Hong Kong Restaurant in Ormond Beach (separate municipality, but it
is so close to Daytona Beach that it is part of it). Located on the west side of A1A. My husband and I used to travel 50 miles to eat at the Hong Kong Restaurant twice a month... Haven't been able to do that for the last eight or so years (kids), but it was really good for 20 years running, so I assume it is still good.

And 50 mile up the road is St. Augustine which has great restaurants, great attractions, great beaches, and really great history. It is a beautiful place. You won't be sorry if you spend some time there.

8. Buy a ticket for the Green Trolleys and see St. Augustine...
The tickets are good for three days and have on/off priviledges... PM on which tour guide/driver to ask for.

4. Head towards the lighthouse on A1A...
there's a neat restaurant where you can watch the fishing boats come in with that days catch. There's a deck you can sit outside and enjoy a few drinks...very relaxing. Sorry, but I can't remember the name.
