Can someone please explain "The Village" to me? (Possible spoilers)
I swear I don't get this movie. It makes no sense. If you don't want to ruin it here for anyone, would someone please PM me? I'm at the part where the blind girl is running through the woods from the thing in the red cloak.
The "big surprise" was very predictable. My wife and I figured it out halfway through the film. It was not a good movie. Just the typical M. Night Shyamalan film. His films are usually great ideas, but his desire for the surprise ending interferes with good film making. This movie would have been better without the surprise.
12. yeah, it's not a very good movie and I figured out it was a "ruse"

by the elders somewhere along the line. Sending the one girl out of the 'village" though was truly dumb, don't you think? Why didn't one of the elders go? I thought it was really contrived in an unpleasant way
19. I had a hunch from the first 5 minutes (I was right).

The thing that tipped me off was the sound effects that played when the "monsters" were afoot during the feast. They sounded like modern/industrial noises miked through echo and reverse tape effects. It was a dead giveaway.
of just how easily you can control people with fear. I saw so much that related to our current situation (since 911). They were protecting themselves from the outside world, and then one of their own ends up being the "terrorist" so to speak. Hmmm. He was the mentally disturbed one too (sorta like Shrub).
The premise is a spaceship on an interstellar trip that would take hundreds of years. It was originally launched by fundies. It dealt with what it would be like to live in a society completly dominated by a christian theology. scary stuff.
24. I guessed the ending to the movie a few weeks before it came out.
It was just so predictable, especially since it was hyped to have a surprise ending. If you tell people it's going to be there, they're going to figure it out on their own eventually.
