Elderly La. Couple Die Within 3 Days
This struck me as heartwarming. They had something many will only dream of in their lifetimes. They were married for almost 84 years.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The oldest married couple in Louisiana, inseparable almost from the night they met, has died within days of each other. George Briant, 103, died Monday at Belle Maison Nursing Home, where his wife, Germaine Briant had died Friday at the age of 101.

``They prayed to go together,'' their godchild and caretaker, Irma Smith of Ponchatoula, said Monday. ``It's just an answered prayer.''

They met on a blind date - even though Germaine Briant was engaged to someone else, Mrs. Briant said during celebration of their 83rd wedding anniversary last year. Briant proposed that night; she broke her engagement and they were married three months later on July 20, 1921.

1. That is a sweet story.
It's nice that they're still together.

4. It touched me..
Just imagine of all the things they'd shared, and in a way still are.

5. I expect that to be my reaction
It just hit me after reading it that they were each others reason for being. I guess that does happen after being a couple that long.

3. My grandparents died 13 days apart
He had fallen, and was rushed to the hospital. She died of a heart attack when she got home from the hospital. The family never told him she was gone, but he knew, and he just quit.

I kind of loved that they did that, that he loved her like that.

6. That's a touching story, too.
I have obviously become a romantic in my old age. Oh, well, it could be worse.
