Any DUers who have takne both the GRE and LSAT

In your opinion, how do the two compare in style and difficulty?

5. How does it differ in style?

I know I could probably start doing web research--but I thought I'd ask y'all first.

I'd assume it places much more emphasis on writing--but does it still have the "verbal" multiple choice stuff?

Hell as long as I've got your attention; what is your general impression of a legal career. (you being whoever is reading this message!)

I'm in the middle of a Master's in Occupational Hygiene and have recently started being recruited by an environmental law school. I'm concentrating on what I'm doing right now, but thought it might not hurt to look at the ol' J.D.

9. I'm in law school now

and it sucks--the classes are tedious and most of the students are obnoxious (sort of like repeating high school).
BUT--I had a great internship last summer with the public defender (and hopefully again this summer). I loved every minute of it, so I know that I will enjoy being a lawyer after I graduate. You just have to suffer through three years of hell before you can do what you want.

4. LSAT very hard, GRE a breeze, especially if drunk

Why would you take the GRE exam if you are going to law school? Backup plan?

When I went to school (a long time ago) I took the LSATs and got accepted at law school. Took them at Columbia University with all these high strung kids who were puking all over the steps of the library because they were so nervous.

Then I took the GREs only because my college made them mandatory for seniors. Partied all night Friday, drove to school and took them Sat. morning, drove back to the party. Actually, I don't remember very much about the GREs. :crazy:

... quite similar to the LSAT. Is that not true?

am very good at logic so this part was my easiest on the GREs. Back in college when I toyed with doing the law school thing - I did a practice LSAT and did exceptionally well - better than on the same practice test (on the verbal section of the GRE). After talking with an admissions person at the local law school (who was impressed with the scores) I more seriously considered law school (not a good reason to consider a career - a pension for doing well on the admit test... more I thought about it - the more I came to my senses.)

Worked a number of years before deciding to go to grad school - and I was on of the odd ball folks who kicked butt (perfect) and while I did well on the other sections - I didn't do any where nearly as well. Ergo - for me - I would probably have had higher (relative to other testers) scores on the LSATs compared to the GREs - but I think I am a rather odd bird. Or perhaps, a statistical outlier.

If you want to improve these scores - get a bunch of books of logic problems - and work them until you figure out your own logic to effectively (and quickly) work them out.

8. the LSAT

is much more analytical than the GRE. The LSAT has several sections that test your analytical skills, while the GRE only one.
I thought that the LSAT was more challenging, but I ended up with about the same percentile on both.
