My wife overdosed on caffeine-free Diet Pepsi
Two Fridays ago, my wife called to tell me she was heading from work to the ER since she had chest pain. The ECG came back negative. That Sunday we were back to the ER with chest pain and burning. The ECG and bloodwork came back negative. She went for a stress echo yesterday, which was also negative. Today she had a barium swallow and that was negative.

She gave up the two Diet Pepsi cube a week habit last week and started taking Zantac OTC. All is better now.

Hard to believe even caffeine free Diet Pepsi can nearly kill you. Imagine if she had been eating pretzels as well!

1. That happened to my sister once
she was in the hospital because she was having a follow up for an operation for tendinitis on her wrist and they kept her for observation and wouldn't tell her why! They had discovered a "large" object in her stomach - they thought it was a tumor but it turned out to be a giant ball of gas from drinking 8 Tabs a day! We all howled at her, though she never did see the humor in it.

2. I've been having panic attacks and
the docs told me to stop with caffeine, sugar and nicotine.

I'm amazed that it was caffeine-free!

Glad the wife is doing better.

3. You don't think the artificial sweetener had anything to do with it?

4. We think it was all the carbonation
not the sweetener. Basically she was adding a ton of carbonic acid to her system, which helped cause acid reflux

5. When I switched to drinking water and took all the sugar
out of my diet, my whole GI system became happy.

I don't even have to pop Tums tablets anymore.

6. Too much of virtually anything is bad for you....
But I'm not surprised. I cut my diet coke intake by about 90% and feel much better for doing so! I'm glad she is feeling better :)
