I'm new to posting on DU... and I'm loving it... despite the headache (no, not a hangover no drinkie recently) lingering from yester-evening)

:) It's an awesome exchange & fun to be a part of! Thanks to all contributors! :)

As for cold... It's 12ºF out this morning... usually/historically it's above 29ºF... AND THERE IS sufficient snow on the ground to prevent seeing any grass or underbrush. In CT we're used to it having rained just hours after snowing such that this is not the case.

Ahh, a real winter .. (but it's still f#$%*@( COLD to me now that I'm accustomed to less!)

:hi: Made thru' this mini iced weekend. Couldn't go out for a full day and a half. Fortunately, didn't lose power or heat. Had enough food and water. Even had enough DVD's and got some housework done. How goes in the TN mtns? :hug:

Bad Santa, bad movie, didn't finish it; Men of Honor, excellent, too much Hollywood, not enough history; Spiderman II, excellent; and Shaolin, Wheel of Life, the Shaolin monks on stage, incredible!

The ice on the roads was no fun, couldn't get out of my complex. Had to stay in and miss a birthday party on Friday night. Sunday was fine, roads were clear. Did you get the ice storm, too?

I have Spiderman 2 coming on Netflix, so now I'm excited to see it! (BTW, if you don't have Netflix, you should totally get it!). Glad I didn't waste time to watch Bad Santa, I don't know many people who actually liked it.

Sucks that you missed the party! :( You'll have to make it up to whomever! And we got a little bit, nothing bad. Most places further East of us got it. BTW, how's your mom doing?

They didn't lose power and heat. They couldn't go anywhere, either. I told her to practice the taichi exercises she's learing; she's in a senior's taichi class.

I workout both days, couldn't go practice with Teacher on Saturday. He gave me homework, strike a tree with your arms 50 times a day. To answer your question, yes, it's just like in the kungfu films; no, I don't bleed or have bruises on my arms.

He showed us how to hit. He said hit the tree, but not hard enough to do damage. Do that for a few weeks and that will increase the inner strength of the forearms. That's why Teacher, at age 75, has forearms like rocks.
