Remember when it was called "Sugar Crisp?"
And they had that really groovy bear singing, "Can't get enough of that Sugar Crisp, Sugar Crisp . . . ."

But then "sugar" became a bad name so they changed it to "Golden Crisp."

What other cereal names were changed? Ha ha ha.

3. Dayam. I'd be lost in the kid's cereal section today.
Does Tony the Tiger still appear on a box of Frosted Flakes?

4. As far as I know, yes.
But they're just Frosted Flakes now instead of Sugar Frosted Flakes.

2. I remember. And, my mom let me have sugary cereal often.
Edited on Mon Jan-31-05 01:35 AM by Pithlet
And I still ate it into my mid twenties. I'd still be eating it if I didn't have kids or health concerns. :) I love sweets.

I don't buy my kids any of that stuff. It's Cheerios or Corn Flakes, unsweetened, if they eat cereal, and they love it. Times have changed.

11. I wasn't allowed to have sugar cereal.
So I poured a ton of sugar on the healthy cereals that we were allowed to have!

I LOVE your avatar, by the way!

8. I thought it was SUPER sugar crisp
Well Quisp came back as a Quaker bagged cereal with a different name, which I cannot recall. Then it came back as Quisp in boxes, but it did not last. I bought lots of it in the bags. It was cheap and tasty. Then I could not find it any more. Finally I happened to see a guy delivering cereal to the store so I asked him and he said that Malt-o-meal bought out the Quaker bagged lines, but Quisp must not have been part of the deal. So it is gone like a dollar spent on a drink.

13. You can get Quisp on line- but not Quake
www.quisp.com

It is SO sweet, it makes my teeth hurt! I don't really eat cold cereal- if I do, I'm hungry all day- must do something to my insulin level!

15. You can get Quisp at my grocery store, for those who live in Detroit
Holiday Market in Royal Oak. It's on Main Street, 2 blocks north of 1-696, and a couple of blocks east of Woodward.

17. This became a running joke in Calvin and Hobbes
Calvin used to eat Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs. Then one days they were changed to Chocolate Golden Flakes, or something like that. They tasted the same, but Calvin lost his interest in the cereal because of the name.

19. I loved sugar crisp.......haven't had any for a long time, but loved them.
I liked puffed rice cereal too. When I was small we used to get those packages of 6 or 10 individual boxed cereals, and only on Sunday could we have the sugar type. I liked puffed rice cereal too.
