Would you pay for a psychic reading?
A few weeks ago I took questions from DU'ers on this board and it was real fun, free and I thought it went over well.

I've been featured on national radio offering readings VIA telephone. Currently, I also offer telephine readings for my established clients.

I'm considering opening a website focused on offering readings online.

I'd be interested in hearing any comments on this.

Many may say, "Why ask, you should know", well I wish is was that simple.

1. Have done
years ago I went and saw a woman named Judith Hope Davis- a couple of times. I'm very skeptical about these things, but she was amazing. She told me I was pregnant when I'd conceived less than a week before I saw her, told me I'd have a boy, described his personality.

3. Would you pay for a personal career advancement service?
Many people resent paying for any kind of professional help, whether it's a doctor, lawyer, architect, tax accountant, web designer, etc.

Most people who want to get ahead confuse career advancement services with recruiters, and they all feel like "real" recruiters are free; therefore, anyone who charges to help someone get a better job, must be a ripoff. But, recruiters aren't in the business of helping people get anything - much less a better job, or a position in a new industry. They just solicit job orders from employers and then try to lure someone to jump ship from the company down the street.

So, if you wanted a better job than you could get on your own, would you pay a professional who can help you land something better? I'm considerig how best to market this service beyond the ways I do it now, and it's difficult to know what media outlets are the best venue for letting the world know about what I do.

4. I paid for a psychic reading once
in the French Quarter. She got most things wrong, but somehow she knew I was involved in a lawsuit, and predicted I would win. I did win, but it was 4 years later.

5. I have paid for readings before,
but I refuse to pay more than ten or fifteen dollars. The going rate seems to be fifty, and I think that is way too much.

6. I Tried to Pay for a Psychic Once
Almost ten years ago, I heard a psychic as a guest on a talk radio show. She struck me as someone who was very good at reading people and their situations immediately.

At the time, I had been agonizing about my marriage for years, and I wondered whether seeing someone like this would help crystalize what I should do.

I called the hotel where she was set up. When her assistant came on the line I said: "I'm thinking of setting up an appointment with ____." She said "OK. Please call back when you've made up your mind." Click.

I was stunned. I eventually realized that they wanted true believers only, and I obviously didn't come across that way. (I wasn't.) But being turned down really impressed me. I was of two minds about it, and never called back to insist on an appointment.

As far as an online service, I doubt I would use an internet pay service.

8. If it's with someone reputable, sure
I sometimes see a clairvoyant at Camp Chesterfield (Indiana)
www.campchesterfield.net (or .org?) -- they charge $35 for 30
minutes (prices vary for different types of readings).

Would I pay to go to "Miss Cleo's Psychic Kiosk" in the Mall ??
No.

9. Whatever They Ask
It it's personal, then the Astrologers have every right to ask to be compensated for their time an effort.

I'm not saying they're right 100% of the time either, but they bring an "empathic" quanity to the news here at DU that you won't find anywhere else and offer their opinons more readily than most.

Logic and Emotions can be two seperate goals until both parties realize that some "Moderate" asshole thinks it would a far better iea to take care of the problem before "it happens."

I'm a Moderate asshole and I sincerely believe that an edcuation of and for the problem is far superior to anything I may face and/or pay out in the future.
