Weekend Newbie Welcome Thread!

I remember when I was a newbie, and how good it felt to be acknowledged and welcomed by "veteran" DUers. It gave me the courage to post more, and I felt instantly accepted by this great community.

Sure, we have factions and flames, but I think the camaraderie here, and not just in this forum, far exceeds the strife. Genuine friendships and rapports develop as a result of DUers being some of the most generous, knowledgable, and accepting souls anywhere.

Weekends can be slow around here, so take advantage of that and welcome the newcomers to DU. The momentum against Bush is picking up steam, and we need all the help we can get!

Show a newbie the same courtesy and friendliness people showed you when you were new, and soon enough, you will have a new friend.

If you are a newbie, step forward and introduce yourself! Maybe you've been lurking awhile, and just need a little prodding.

We don't bite. ;-)

4. Weekend Newbie Weigh-In

hello to everyone here on DU. I've been reading the great posts on this site for about a month and have been impressed by the level of commitment, knowledge, humor and thoughtfulness here. I've enjoyed this site so much and learned allot, so I knew I had to join up this weekend.

I'm a registered Green, but I feel at this point in our history that all progressives and informed people of conscience MUST come together now to defeat this crypto-fascist administration and its corrupt policies.

The democratic line up looks strong these days. I'm thrilled the candidates are standing tall and publicly making substantive points about the destructive direction the bush administration has taken this country.

I don't know if anyone else has felt this way, but for some reason, ever since the 9/11 debacle, world events have taken on an almost unreal quality to me. Something has gone very wrong. That's the intuitive response I've had.

It's lit a fire under me and I've decided to start getting informed so I can find a niche for my own activism. That's where I am today. And happy to have come across this great community.
