Anyone like The Mountain Goats/John Darnielle?

In general I'm not a fan of this whole neo-folk acoustic scene. Iron and Wine, Will Oldham, Devendra Banhart leave me bored at best, and utterly annoyed at their preciousness at worst. But Darnielle's lyrics and playing have a lot more urgency and sense of humor about them without being quirky. I think he/they get lost in the shuffle of hipsters falling all over themselves to praise those other artists I mentioned.
