1. Phil Spector is a tool for many other reasons.
That is the least of his sins.

4. OK, I was wrong.
Spector's version of "Let It Be" is pittance compared to the blasphemy he perpetrated on "The Long And Winding Road" :grr: :grr:

I'm going to have to listen to Naked like 9 times now so I can wash this crap out. :eyes:

7. Yeah, I'm not too big on his production on that album, either...
Although I actually prefer the album version of "Let It Be" to the single; I just find George's wild-sounding guitar (I've read before it's a Lesley) solo to Billy Preston's great but not quite as interesting organ solo.

And I will give Spector a little of a break on "The Long and Winding Road" (though I like the Naked version better); he felt as if he had to do something to cover up the flawed playing on the Beatles' original version. For reasons unknown, John (who normally played the rhythm guitar) was playing bass (perhaps because Paul was on piano) on that song and made a dozen or so errors (wrong notes, missed parts, etc.) that Spector felt like he had to mask by whatever means possible. Personally, I think only musicians would have noticed these errors but perhaps Spector felt like this was the only way to do the song justice.

5. Phil Spector is the second greatest record producer
in the history of American pop. (After Brian Wilson.)

My God, he gave us "Be My Baby," for God's sake.

The man's a genius.

6. And he beat Ronnie, is awaiting trial for murder...
A genius who should've been kept under heavy sedation outside the studio...

8. I didn't say he was a good guy
just a genius.

Yeah, he's probably a mean nut, but I still love his old music.
