The Amazing Race finally became watchable again
For those who've been watching it this season, you know that "casting" pulled a major FUBAR by selecting the "utterly devoid of redeeming characteristics" team of Jonathan and Victoria.

I've never had my teeth hurt before while watching a show but those two practically made the show unwatchable every time they were on camera.

Fortunately, the god of Tuesday couch-potatos intervened and eliminated those two from the competition. While none of other teams have anyone who I would care to have win over the others, the show can at least become less focused on dysfunction within a marital arrangement and get back to what made it guilty pleasure viewing to begin with.

Any other fans of the show here who were ready to give up on this season?

1. I was watching every week just in the hopes...
...that they would get eliminated. If they made it to the final three, I was probably going to give up on the show forever.

I noticed Phil had a little look of relief on his face as well.

3. I noticed Phil's expression as well
In retrospect, anytime he saw them coming ahead of last place in prior shows he had this grim look on his face.

However, yesterday he seemed to have a smile on his face when Rebecca and Adam arrived at the mat which meant that J/V were going to be last.

5. Kendra the bigot?
"god these people just keep on breeding"

Nice ugly American nationalism she keeps displaying. All she is missing is her "W in 2004" t-shirt.

14. "Thank God we're out of ghetto Africa"
Yeah, I find Kendra much more offensive and a worse person than either Jonathan or Victoria. And that's saying A LOT.

People like Kendra are what's wrong with America. Entitled and inconsiderate and without a single element of sympathy, empathy, goodwill, or manners. She's appalling.

6. Thank God,
they were eliminated. The next couples to get rid of are Adam and Rebecca and Freddy and Kendra. Where do they find these heinous people?

8. Re: Adam and Rebecca
How in the hell do you arrive at the pit stop BEHIND the team you yielded at the last challenge stop?

How much time did Adam lose in screwing up by going to the wrong set of worshipers?

13. Lol! I didn't even think about that until you mentioned it
I hope Adam & Rebbecca don't get eliminated soon. He cracks me up! He needs a mother, not a girlfriend. I'm impressed with how far they've made it actually. I gave them a couple of weeks at most at the beginning. I mean really, it's only half a team. She does all the work and he keeps screwing up. That diving thing last week was hysterical!

9. I only caught the first show
Remind me who Jonathan and Victoria were?

Also, that first show kinda turned me off to the season. Anyone else feel like extremely physical and extremely chance related challanges should be minimized or eliminated from the show? And then you combine the two (that hay bale unrolling thing), and it gets ridiculous. wtf?

10. They were the married entrepreneurs....
which someone on the TV w/o Pity site went on to say was probably code for "porn".

He was a sleazy looking type with blue hair and she was a bleached blonde former playmate of the month who looked like she had been passed around a few too many times.

They were notable exclusively for screeching at each other the entire race.

12. I am sooo glad they are gone,
but truthfully, I couldn't care less who wins this one. All the good teams are gone.

15. Weren't all that many to really root for this time around
Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 12:09 PM by Mike Daniels
You had the retired/older couple (Don and Mary Jean) and the father/daughter (Gus/Hera). G/H were from the DC area so I was kind of pulling for the local team.

The thing that sunk those teams was choosing poorly at the "select a challenge" events.

At this point, the only non-annoying team still in it is Kris/John but the "pretty" factor makes it hard to really pull for them over any other team.

16. Kris and Jon have been top-notch since Day One
K & J have been the only team so far who have demonstrated superior playing skill (except for one mistake involving plane reservations) and consistent courtesy and respect for each other, the other players, and all of the locals with whom they interact. Some people call them boring because they don't provide "good television" with arguments, etc. I call them decent human beings who have been able to get as far as they have just because they are that way.

Gus and Hera were my prior favorites, but they got lost way too often, and Gus couldn't run a hundred-yard dash to save his life.

That having been said, the show has become 100% more watchable with the elimination of what could possibly be the most loathsome couple on the planet.
