Is it safe to eat pepperonis which have been in an open package at room temp for 4 days? I don't know much about this kind of thing, and I don't want to get sick.
Do you mean that package had been previously opened or that the package was open for the entire 4 days? How dry is the meat? Did you buy it unrefrigerated or refrigerated? Are there lots of perservatives listed in the ingredients? On the otherhand, 4 days is quite a while in the perishable food world. I wouldn't even eat cheese that had been at room temperature for 4 days in a non sealed package. You probably wouldn't die and maybe wouldn't even get sick because of the dryness and perservatives but buying another package of pepperoni is a lot cheaper than a visit to the emergency room.
