I just can't bring myself to post in GD anymore....
Haven't posted in there in a long time, well before the election. Well, maybe on election night, and a day or two after, but that's it.

Is it me, or has GD become mean, hyper-sensitive, and condascending to new DU'ers? And someone even tried to bitch-slap me about my conversion, said I should take the "x" out of my screen name.

Really hurt my feelings, truth be told. Don't think I'll be going back there anytime soon. I'll split my time between you great folks in the Lounge and a Vikings chat board.

1. can get pretty rough and tumble in there
but if you only have a couple of minutes, and want to know what's the latest buzz... a quick scan of the thread topics in that forum give one a pretty good idea.

LBN is still always my must hit forum...

5. The main reason I started posting at DU...
was because of the great back and forth that used to go on on various topics. Noe every thread seems to degenerate into name calling along with an exchange of physical impossibilities.

Frustrating.

2. Sometimes I Forget and Take My "Lounge" Sense Of Humor To GD...
actually it's my sense of humor all of the time...I suppose it is just better suited for the Lounge.

I can't take the South/red state bashing so I try to stay out. It's out of control. :P

6. yep

All those people going cold turkey on power lust/addiction and the dreary, endless, revisionism and desire to live in the past gets to me too. Relentless idiocy. It's like Emperor Palpatine getting tossed into the power shaft- all kinds of evil energy boils out anyway, a last gasp.

It'll be a while before their withdrawal symptoms and grasping-at-straws fanaticisms abate and with it all the stupid pc-ness that's being asserted/imposed. Maybe a couple of months before sense and reason and willingness to deal with the future are really reestablished.

I spent countless hours on GD (and GD04) in the weeks right up until the election, and then after Bush won, I decided to take a hiatus from DU. I just returned only three days ago, and this time around, I've decided to stay in the Lounge.

It's often pointed out (rightly IMO) that online political forums, both left and right, have a tendency to degenerate into closed-minded echo chambers and sounding boards. GD often embodies all of the worst characteristics of this.

After Bush won, I realized that I had been completely unprepared for the outcome of the election because of all the mindless uncritical cheerleading over Kerry, which I think was very counterproductive -- especially the way a lot of people shouted down anyone who dared suggest that it might actually be possible for Kerry to lose and Bush to win.
