Do you lock your car at night?
I do and it is in the garage. A few months ago a friend who had her car in the garage had her belongings taken from her car. It seems there are crazies out there who know how to tamper with garage door openers. Now before I go to bed, I locked my car and make sure my door to the garage is locked.

1. NEVER, it is a convertible. Nothing in the car is worth the price of a new
top.

3. I always lock the car
Even when I'm in it. I want tall the car thieves and stereo snatchers and vandals and carjackers to go looking for an easier target.

9. never used to until
a bunch of vandals went from little town to little town getting into cars. They only took some change out of mine, but the idiots broke my map/dome lights to turn them off. Now, all the car doors get locked.

But I park on the street in Brooklyn. I don't leave anything in my car, either.

I park it in front of my house and once I found in my planter part of a fishing poll with some kind of device on the end that someone had tried to use to get into my car. :wow: I also have an alarm and it is ALWAYS activated.

13. Never ...
First off my car is a peice of crap. 1991 Mazda 626. Don't get me wrong, it has been a great car, it is just nearing the end of its usefulness.

I never lock my car. I rarely keep anything in it of value, and I am not interested in getting a window fixed if someone thinks it does.

There is someone who "breaks into" (read gets into) my car and steals the change in it. Yes, it is quite annoying, and I feel slightly violated when it happens, but it is not worth a busted window.

I put a sticker at the bottom of where I keep my change that says "Smile, you are now being video taped". It is not true, but I'll bet it scares the shit out of the person, and he leaves me alone. So far I have no evidence that he has seen it.

Cheers
Drifter

14. I do.
They say that the insurance company frowns on you if you file a claim for losses and tell them that the car wasn't locked.

15. What I am trying to say
if you have a garage, your garage door should be locked and your car also. These items were taken from a car where the person thought they were safe, in a garage, but her garage door was not locked! The garage door was closed but not locked.

The police said if you have an automated garage door opener, there are many who can drive or walk the neighborhood to open the garage doors. Guess this is technology.

17. Strangely, yes.
Nothing in the car is worth anything, and teh car itself could probably fetch 300-500 dollars on the black 'saturn' market.

18. No - but in my neighborhood I could leave the door open
with a sign saying free diamonds and no one would rob us. We live in a low crime area. I hope it stays that way.

19. Nope. It's in a locked garage.
I figure if they can manage a way into my garage, they can have the car.
