"The Foundation of Law & Government", a private organization

In 1983, this foundation, as seen in the fictional TV series "Knight Rider" seemed noble and cool.

Today, 2003, am I alone in thinking that a private orginzation taking on the responsibilities (or even just the name) of what should be a government entity is perverse?

Indeed, why would such a foundation spend all the money needed to make a car, 80% of the required technology not being available at the time - and 40% of it is still unobtainable today, for some guy to go around and help people in increasingly contrived situations?

All that aside, the show is still fun to watch. It's fresh. Which is quite the compliment for a 20 year old show!!

1. If I recall correctly, FLAG was created by a guy...

who felt guilty that his son grew up to be a master criminal. The organization and KITT were created to counteract some of the evil that his son was wreaking upon the world. Although this already sounds a little weird, what was even weirder was that he chose an injured cop to drive KITT and had his face surgically altered to look like his son--and they BOTH looked like David Hasselhoff!!

I am just realizing that I know entirely too much about Knight Rider than I should.
