1. Raiders of the Lost Ark
...when he takes out his gun and shoots the guy with the huge machete, best scene in a movie, ever.

19. The story behind that scene
Ford was deathly sick when it came time to shoot that one- they had originally planned a "sword" fight, but he could barely stand. So they stood him up, he whipped out his gun and shot the guy, then went back to bed.

Look at his face. That's not acting, and the flop sweat is real.

3. They all suck.
Have you ever done any archaeology? It's not fun, Nazi-killing stuff. It's digging and dusting. Lots of digging. Lots of dusting.

Warhol made a movie of a man sleeping for 8 hours. That's a more interesting topic for an action/adventure movie than fucking archaeology. Why don't you make a cinematic trilogy about paint drying, FFS?

4. Don't forget the Nazi-killing.
I went on an archaeology expedition, and we did a lot of nazi killing.

I bagged at least 15.

6. Have you ever used a mattock
If you ask me whip slinging and Nazi dodging is much easier than mattocking.

20. In Last Crusade, Ford is teaching an archeology class
where he tells the class to forget any ideas about lost cities, exotic travel, and digging up the world. Archaeologists do not follow maps to buried treasure and 'X' never, ever marks the spot. Most work is done in libraries.

I always thought that was funny coming from Indiana Jones, but it is sadly accurate. Not too much Nazi killing and gun play for archaeologists.

9. I voted Raiders
Still one of my all-time favorite movies...

However, I have a friend that hated Raiders & Temple of Doom, but loved Last Crusade.

13. The original, by far.
Temple of Doom, while deliciously violent, lacked substance - and his female companion was a throwback; meant to add in humor but she's only annoying.

The music is also a little too 'royal' as well, it sounds pompous.

"Last Crusade" was rather better than Temple, but was too comedic. Great casting and a good premise (with Julian Glover, no less, who played King Richard in another "Crusade"!).

The original is still the best

14. I swear Temple of Doom
really screwed up that series.

It's definetely the missing link in that series, and I can see why some Indians were offended by it.

Then again, it really wasn't a good movie, offensive or not.

But Amrish Poori pulling the dude's heart out was kinda cool - and hey it created the PG 13 rating!

the opening, when the heroine? sings Anything Goes in Chinese! The rest was embarassingly awful.

21. I will always love Raiders
It was a great opening sequence. It left me with a fear of rolling boulders though. Plundering golden idols has never been the same for me.

24. Indiana Joan and the Black Hole of Mamoo
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 12:50 PM by Jeff in Cincinnati
It's a skin flick, not to be confused with "Indiana Joan and the Temple of Poon." This was one of the most unintentionally funny movies I've ever seen in my life -- it looks like it was shot in somebody's back yard with a production budget of no more than $39.95
