I saw Hotel Rwanda and Million Dollar Baby, today!
Edited on Sat Jan-01-05 07:07 PM by Kire
After I got out of the first one, I was ready to shout Best Picture at the top of my lungs outside any Academy members' houses, and then I saw the other other one, and I got so confused. They are both so dang good!

I'd say Ask Me Anything! But, I've got to go somewhere in a few minutes!

Best part of Hotel Rwanda: Learning that Hutus and Tutsis are not biological (or is it anthropological) tribes, but racial divisions determined by the Belgian colonists based mostly on variations of skin color and the sizes of different Rwandans noses.

Best part of Million Dollar Baby: Morgan Freeman winning the argument that the holes in his socks are just fine, thank you. Really, just about anything Morgan Freeman did in this movie was priceless. Plus, he got to be a narrator, again.

I highly recommend you go out of your way to see both of these films. But, unfortunately, they are so limited, most of the country won't get the chance until they are out on video.

Discuss.

1. Did you see "The Aviator"?
That's the only movie in the running for a "Best Picture" nod that I've seen so far this year.

2. yes
It's great, and will probably get the nomination, but no way should it win if either of these two are nominated.

8. yes, and a little Almost Famous
For a little comic relief, there is a scene where Paul (Don Cheadle) confesses to his wife that he bribed the Ministry of Health to get her transferred to Kilgali. A la Penny Lane asking what kind of beer was she sold for, Tatiana gets furious and asks Paul what kind of car. The answer is very funny.
