1. I thought it was only my kids who did this.
I am thrilled to know the problem is more widespread. Recently, I went to Goodwill and bought about $10 worth of forks and spoons. And that's a lot, at 20 cents apiece. Let the little buggers lose all of those!

Mine also, for some reason, lose ALL the little plastic backs on EVERY remote we've ever had. Our remotes wear fashionable duct tape.

2.  It is a conspiracy
My daughters are 20 & 23 years old and i find spoons under beds or in the laundry,it doesn't end. I will now pour cerial in my mouth and drink milk.Gillian works at a heath food place and brings the utensils home with her,so now we have 2 dozen spoons that don't belong to us and 3 that are ours.

3. Silverware rant in 3, 2, 1....
You know where else I find my good silverware? In the compost pile! I'll be out there sweating and turning things over and I'll spot something shiny. Voi-freaking-la, there's my good silverware. What, they can scrape a plate into the compost bucket, but they're too lazy to hold the dadgummed spoon in their hand once they're finished!

Bah! Bwah! Splutter!

5. One of my cats loves to knock over the remotes
and those little hinges on the door of the battery case always break so my remotes look like yours. (and I thought I was the only one!)

4. I lose a lot of them when the kid is dumping the remains off his plate
and he's too lazy or short-sighted to throw the FORK in the sink first. He just dumps it in the trash with the remains of whatever he was eating.

Dollar store. That's where I shop for eating utensils nowdays. At one point he had me down to two forks.
