Like playing CDs? New copy protection is due out...

Several major music labels have already used a version of the British company's technology on prerelease compact discs distributed for review and other early-listening purposes, including on recent albums from Eminem and U2.

The releases for the retail market, expected early in 2005, will be the first time the Sony music label issues copy-protected CDs in the U.S. market, although the company's other divisions have done so in other regions. BMG, Sony's new corporate sibling, has been more aggressive, with a handful of protected CDs released last year.

I wonder how they'll compensate for the uber-non-technical method of copying by simply plugging the stereo system into the computer's line-in jack... :eyes: :hurts: (that's common knowledge, it's as easy to find as porno on the internet(s).)

Definitely won't rip on Windows. Didn't rip on old Mac, but for some reason rip just fine on my new PowerBook.

Once you go Mac, you never go back.

2. There are legit reasons to copy CDs
My daughter ruins CDs, so I copy hers and let her have the copies, and when she ruins them I just copy another.

I guess I'll do what you suggested to copy them from now on. Just makes things a little harder.

5. LOL
Yes, you're right. Redistribution of wealth from the middle class to the rich will solve all of America's problems. What was I thinking?

:)
