Poll question: How Good is "LOST"?
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 06:50 PM by Jack_Dawson
I had pretty much given up on network television, and especially dramas. But I find this show absolutely eerie/gripping/original. My gf said it's like renting a movie every Wednesday.

But maybe that's just me.

1. It's the best "new" show which isn't saying much
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 06:45 PM by Feeney2
it's watchable but if there were any decent TV against it, it would get clobbered. Networks are lazy and cheap with all the fake "reality" shows.

8. Reality TV is Dying, Thank God
But yes, what a moneymaker it has been. A bunch of non-SAG stiffs competing for $50K? The networks make that back during a commercial break.

37. Reality TV won't die easily...
...for nthe reasons you've already mentioned.

The Networks want reality tv to last a long, long time, and as broadcasters are as much an influence of peoples' viewing habits as they are reflectors of them, they will invest huge amounts of effort and capital to keep RTV popular.

As someone who's industry has been devastated by reality TV, I wish this wasn't true.

There are two networks launching next year, who will produce nothing but reality TV.

40. I LOVE this show
I missed the first episode. Stuff on tv just doesn't capture my attention much. But for some reason, we ended up watching it the second week, and I was totally hooked.

I watch the show with my daughters, and it is one of two shows that my 15 year old and I must watch together (the other being CSI LV).

7. One of three shows I watch ...
Lost
Simpsons
House

House may start to lose its novelty soon, I fear. But Lost just keeps getting better and better. However, I hope they end the show so it doesn't go out the way X-Files did.

13. The last season sucked for me
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 06:50 PM by Khephra
I lost almost all the long-running shows that I enjoyed and nothing was brought out that I considered a worthy replacement. This season has been quite different. I'm enjoying "House", "Deparate Housewives", and "Lost". (And if we're counting cable, I'd have to add "Deadwood".)

I just hope I'll be able to add the new Battlestar Galactica show to my list when it starts next month.

31. It's the remade version that was on Sci-Fi as a mini
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 07:13 PM by Khephra
and it ended up being sucessful enough that it went to series. Fans are torn by it as it's VERY different. Edward James Olmos is the biggest star of the show.

Fans were most pissed off for two reasons:

1 - Starbuck was turned into a woman

2 - there's human looking Cylons as well as the old model.

The new series is already showing in the UK and successful enough that it may be green-lit for a second season before it even starts here in Jan.

I just voted wrong. Somehow I skimmed over the word "network"!

Yes it is the best network show. For me the best show on television network or cable is FX's Nip/Tuck but that may just be because I'm obessed with Dr. Troy and his portrayer.

44. Definitely
I'm not a stalker mind you, I'm just sort of fantasy obsessed with the man. ROTFLO.

I also like how Nip/Tuck is written. I love how Ryan Murphy shows that on the surface Troy is the morally challenged one yet often he ends up doing things that are ten times more moral than the the preachier people in his universe.

I'm looking forward to June too. I want to see how bad the Carver messed up poor Dr. Troy.

41. eh...i watched a few episodes, didn't strike me as memorable
the Merry guy from Lord of the Rings was cool, but other than that it seemed forgettable.

Even the wheelchair guy from OZ wasn't that great.

Maybe it got better after I stopped watching it, but I didn't see the big deal.

As you can tell, it didn't exactly hook me in.

46. This show is so good that I'm surprised it's still on.
Normally the networks are allergic to quality programming, but they must have taken something for their sniffles because DAMN this show is amazing.

Given JJ Abrams' track record (not counting "Felicity"), I'd say that if he ever asks ABC for ten million dollars to develop a series about a guy who sits in his apartment staring at the well for an hour, the ABC execs shouls just sign the check and let the man work. It would have to be better than that "Whores" show that's doing so well for them...
