Lasagna thief gets 40-year sentence - thought it was a package of money

BRADENTON -- Todd Queen will probably cringe if prison cooks ever serve him lasagna.

Queen, 26, thought he'd taken a bundle of money when he robbed the owner of a Sarasota gas station he followed home in June 2003. Instead, the package Queen stole contained only a tray of Stouffer's lasagna, and on Monday the career felon received a long prison term for pillaging the pasta.

Judge Charles Williams sentenced Queen to 40 years in prison for acts committed during the attempted robbery. His convictions included attempted second-degree murder and home invasion with a firearm.

Prosecutor Scott Rieth of the State Attorney's Office said Queen made a plan to rob Sarasota convenience store owner Mohammad Kabbany, who was thought to take money home with him.
