Part of the success of the show was consistently picking GREAT actors to portray the Doctor.

Baker is the obvious choice, because of longevity with the show as well as some of the series' best episodes under him.

But all the others did a great job exploring slightly different aspects of the character.

On edit: I picked Hartnell, because if he hadn't captured the enigma that is the character of Doctor Who, the series wouldn't have taken off like it did.

You don't like McCoy and you have the god awful Colin Baker? I liked the whole Trial fo a Time Lord story line but I hated him as the Dr.

I have only seen a few McCoys but I liked what I saw. And Eccleston is a great actor so I would expect something decent from him.

McGann would have been great but the stupid-ass story doomed that version.

9. I figured a slight bit of flamage on a

sci-fi thread. I'm sure most of you have more Dr. Who expertise than me. My consists of staying up late on weekend night with my dad watching the series on PBS for many years.
