1. Have my doubts about down coats too.
Don't ducks go south in winter?

4. Yes
It's the disenfranchised voter mantra. The Comforter of the Down is going all around!

Actually -- this is my silly copycat thread. see:

down is warm in winter and cool in summer. because it makes you only as warm as you want to be and not any warmer, because it is light and durable.

6. I had one. It allows you to turn the heat WAY down.
They're very warm, but not heavy.Same for a Down coat.

Unless they get wet, then they're not worth shit.

I use a Polartec blanket, now. It wasn't cheap, but it's still cheaper than a down comforter. (My ex kept the one we had)

I can handle it down to about 60 in here. The feathers would take that to about 55.

7. This was a copycat post at first
But I don't have down comforter and think I should get one. It's getting chilly here.

9. I missed what you were copycatting...
I think it's slipped off page one now...

I couldn't afford the down, so i got the Polartec. It's warm, but Down's warmer.

when I was growing up, the windows at home were pretty loose. I used to wake up with snow on the nightstand!

That was freaky. Dad put plastic over the windows next winter....
