Does MILESTONES Ever Count you in on the list?

I've only been noticed once on MILESTONES

She Does a wonderful job on this,i just wondered how many people chose to participate in it.

10. here's the trick

never have your birthday post after about 7pm eastern time or they miss it. they seem to miss the ones after they have the afternoon kick.

7. newyawker99 does a GREAT job of recognizing milestones

and birthdays for DUers! I don't know how she keeps up with all of us. :shrug:

Once, I thought she'd missed a milestone of mine and I PMed to remind her, but it turned out I'd just missed the thread. Was my face red! :smoke: (We need a "blush" smiley but Mr. Smoke will have to do for now.)

When you get some of the big milestones like 5,000 and 10,000 -- or when you're new and 100 is big -- it's nice to be recognized. Especially when you're over 1000 posts, since our post counts no longer show anything above that number in our posts.

8. newyawker99 does the best she can

i'd like to see you do better. She missed me a few times and i complained. I found out she does this all manually so now i understand it's not as easy as running some computer program and posting the results.

The birthday list is voluntary. I ask for
birthdays every month. Those who wish to
participate will give me their info and
I write it down and post it when their
special day arrives.

About milestones:

1. It is not voluntary. *Everyone* is included
on this list unless their profiles are hidden.


I have a list that was created for me by Admin.
This list shows only certain milestones.
It lists these milestones:

100
500
1000 and every 1000 after that until...
10,000. After 10,000 your milestone
will appear every 5000 posts so the
next milestone would be 15,000.

I also post these milestones....

200
300
400
600
700
800 and
900

These milestones DO NOT appear on my milestone
list. I have to find these by going through
the threads in the different forums. So if
I miss your milestone, please remember that
I do this alone and I have other moderator
duties that take up part of my time and I
can't always get to all of the milestones.

You can help me out by sending me a PM if
you have reached a milestone. I will
write it down and include it on the list.

Also, I include the list from the prior day.
Before you think that you were missed, please
check that link. It is possible that I posted
your milestone late in in the day.

If you have any further questions about this,
please feel free to contact me and I will answer
them.

I knew you had a list but didn't realize not all milestones are listed on it. Since you're collecting all the others on your own, plus popping into threads and welcoming new DUers, and managing the birthday lists, I'm even more impressed that you keep up with it all! :wow:

P.S. OK, tell me more -- do you get links to posts by newbies or do you just do that on your own? I always assumed you had to have some kind of list to find all those posts. You seem to be omniscient, like our much-missed GrovelBot.

22. Thanks for asking the question/ posting the poll.

I think in the past, when there were fewer members, and fewer forums to visit, people were more likely to come to the Lounge to post when they were about to hit a milestone, and to announce it themselves, which made it easier for newyawker to do this service she took on voluntarily. Other people often did milestone threads, too. Remember that everyone's post counts continued to show after 1000 so it was easy for someone to notice that another DUer was about to hit 2000, or whatever, and start a Lounge thread to congratulate him/her. Just a bit of DU history from a senior citizen. ;-)

It's good for everyone to know how it works so feelings don't get hurt as DU keeps mushrooming in size.
