Poll question: So how soon will * invade Iran?
After reading a few things on this board this weekend and a few articles I figure this might be interesting to ask. How well can we gage BUSHCO or are we still not that good at it yet.

Bush will announce invasion:

3. Sping...and a President's fancy turns to thoughts of invasion....
March is it, if the pattern of the Iraq run-up holds true.

4. How do you suppose we'll be able to invade Iran?
We don't have the troops. Do you actually think the American public will support a draft bill in order to invade Iran?
Air strikes are a distinct possibility, but Iraq has impaired our ability to act anywhere else in the world.

8. Nukes
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Rummy's been dying to use them since the Nixon administration, and the American public won't give a shit about the use of nuclear weapons to stop a country from producing nuclear weapons (cognitive dissonance, and all that).

As someone on LBN pointed out, there is the fact that nukes would irradiate oilfields, cutting into Exxon's profits. Iran doesn't ahve all that many oilfields (comparatively speaking), and we just won't bomb them. Smal, tactical, "battlefield nukes" used on nuclear facilities and concentrations of military strength, combined with conventional arms against more spread-out targets like radar, AA, and C&C targets. We don't have to invade them, just beat them like we beat Iraq in '91; we can always invade them ten years later with our forces based in a "liberated" Iraq.

The important part of this post is that the fuckers in charge really ARE crazy/stupid enough to do it, and would just love the slightest provocation.

I hope you're wrong, but I'm afraid I have to agree that they are capable of it.

But it will be after there is another "Terrorist" attack on our country and the draft is reactivated. Maybe March.

10. It could be a while
remember, we're talking about Bush** here. He probably thinks he's already invaded Iran, you know, the place with Baghdad and Fallujah and all that other stuff that looks really neat when you blow it up. </sarcasm>

Enough time to get them into uniform and shipped out for some really terrifying "OTJ Training".

I predict a major shit hitting the fan in 2005 that will divert his attention and pursue Iran later.

if they decide to time Iran for the November 2006 elections the same way they timed Iraq in 2002. Remember, you don't roll out a new product in the Summertime.

22. Well they didn't give Iraq...
...all that long to prove anything. They just bullshitted to get what they wanted.

I fear the same will be said for Iran. When you look at what is being said, they are already spouting the same bullshit rhetoric, as they did before the Iraq invasion.

17. I am gonna go with...
...March next year. Sapph and my anniversary falls on the 19th of March, and even though we are apart for it, we usually try and celebrate it as best we can.

It will be our 5th anniversary. Sapph might be able to make it back down to Australia so we can actually spend it together. It will be the first anniversary since 2001 that we could actually be together for. And I can just see something happening so we won't be in the mood for celebrating. Attacking Iran would do that.

19. probably not.
not practical. remember, they're actually seeking to build nuclear weapons, we can only attack those who might possibly be considering to maybe sometime in the future hold a meeting on whether or not they might want to think about building weapons.
