Normally I detest opera...

But I have on tape some of the best from WB and MGM poking fun of opera in their cartoons.

By far, the two best are "Magical Maestro" by Tex Avery at MGM and "What's Opera, Doc?" by Chuck Jones at WB.

2. Check out "Salome" by Strauss

There is gratuitous violence, John the Baptist gets beheaded; there is topless dancing (Dance of the Seven Veils); the orchestral score is great; and it's really short. I'm not a big fan. It takes an elephant or the above to get me there but if you have to attend in person, this one is pretty good.
