remember, guns don't kill people, um, uh, aw, fuck it!
isn't it wonderful how the mentally ill can buy a handgun just like everybody else?

Shooting is last act of a traumatic, violent life
Before Thursday's attack that killed three, including himself, Justin Cudar's temper often led to trouble.
By JAMIE THOMPSON and CARRIE JOHNSON
Published November 20, 2004

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ST. PETERSBURG - As the two cars idled at a traffic light, the teenager glanced to his left and noticed the other driver giving him a dirty look.

"You got a problem?" asked Marcus Ferraro, 18.

At the next stoplight, 25-year-old Justin M. Cudar jumped out of his car and spit at Ferraro, then kicked his door so hard it dented.

The light turned green and Cudar took off, tailgating Ferraro. At the next intersection, he got out and smashed Ferraro's window with an anti-theft device.

Pinellas County sheriff's deputies were still searching for Cudar hours later when his temper exploded in a more horrific way.

The day after Cudar took the lives of two innocent bystanders, then shot himself to death in a RadioShack store, a picture began to emerge of a man with a traumatic childhood who used violence to deal with problems. Last year, he was accused of trying to run over a U.S. Coast Guardsman with his car.

The tragedy of Thursday's shooting is compounded by its apparent randomness. While most criminals have some link to their victims, police say Cudar never met the people he killed, nor had he ever worked at the RadioShack. Store officials don't even have a record of Cudar as a customer.

Even Cudar's twin sister couldn't explain what set him off.

"I think all people have their limits," said Jessica Cudar. "We all can handle so much ... Justin had reached his limit."

1. A history of dealing with problems through violence.
And how was he able to own a gun? Where was his family in all this?

Some people have no reason to possess anything more lethal than a Taco Bell spork, and even then, they need someone to keep an eye on them.

This is in my community. I know some of the players peripherally. We like our anger and we like to act shocked when the untreated anger reaches its logical outcome.

6. I gotta say...
I was intensely relieved the day I moved back out of Florida. Strange things happen there, people are allowed to do strange things there, strange things are accepted as a part of normalcy.

Not my kind of place. Your mileage may vary.

I did know some very fine people there, however.

10.  nice try, but a car is not a weapon.
a car is a conveyance with many uses, a gun has one purpose.

12. Sorry but a gun is just one of the means by which law abiding citizens
exercise their inalienable right to defend self and property as stated in many state constitutions beginning with Pennsylvania that said:

"I. That all men are born equally free and independent, and have certain natural, inherent and inalienable rights,
amongst which are, the enjoying and defending life and liberty, acquiring, possessing and protecting property,"
"XIII. That the people have a right to bear arms for the defence of themselves and the state;" (Pa Constitution, 28 Sept. 1776)

16. The fact is that a car,
while it can be used to kill does not share the illustrious status of being a device whose sole purpose, when used as directed, is to kill other human beings.

target pistol.

You know we aren't talking about competition level weapons here, we are discussing readily available weapons which exist for a single purpose only.

Nice attempt to bring in an irrelevant argument though.

We are discussing weapons which are cheap and easily available (not the case with competition level weapons, especially those used for olympic events, which you would know if you'd ever done any competition level shooting).

you might wish to define precisely what type of gun you wish to ban.

22. Perhaps you should quit inventing statements out of thin air?
Nowhere did I suggest banning anything.

I'm more in favor of stricter regulation of who and how they can be purchased and enforcement of those stricter regulations. In fact, I'm in favor of criminal penalties for people that attempt to purchase a firearm if they know they are prohibited for any reason. We can criminally prosecute people who attempt to purchase alchol illegitimately, but when was the last time someone who attempted to purchase a firearm was arrested instead of told "sorry, you didn't pass a background check."

You really should quit manufacturing arguments.

You have yet to give an example of an automobile whose sole purpose is to kill people.

24. The initial post used phrases commonly used by groups hoping
to ban handguns or all guns. Do you wish to ban some class of guns or what part of federal law do you wish to expand to limit legal ownership to certain classes of people?

25. The answers to your question are readily apparent to anyone who
has a rudimentary knowledge of English.

First, once again, please point out where I said "ban" anywhere. Second, you are manufacturing statements again, nothing I said limits legal ownership in anyway either. In fact, quite the opposite, it makes it a criminal offense to knowingly attempt to purchase a weapon if you are barred from it for any reason.

You really do have a problem with reading comprehension don't you?

28. I love it when people can't present facts in their arguments so they
run away and hide after doing everything they can to twist the words of the other side.

I hear ignorance is bliss. You must be one happy guy.
