Anybody like Almodovar?
He's my favorite director. I can't wait for his new film to be released in the States.

7. Women on the Verge
I had a hard time getting this DVD but it was so worth it. Have you seen What Have I Done To Deserve This? A lot of people don't find his earlier work as accesible as his post-Women on the Verge films

10. I'd be one of those people...
But I'd be willing to give them a second try, if I could find a video store that stocked them.

14. yeah
I actually found Matador, What Have I Done To Deserve This, and the Law of Desire at Blockbuster. The smaller, independent stores tend to have a bigger selection of obscure stuff.

6. I really like his earlier stuff, like "What Have I Done To Deserve This?"
Unfortunately, beginning with "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown," Almodovar toned his films down, presumably to appeal to a wider audience. That's when I lost interest in him.

He is great.

Every film is a two hour roller coaster ride of real life -- grim painful absurd beautiful and pays honor to how people manage to survive daily life these many millenia....

A new one coming out? I am so THERE!!

PS -- Senor Almodovar -- please contact me. My life can yield a perfect subject for you. My mother, a perfect subject for you. My sister -- it would take two movies....

Fellini loved women, but Almodovar loves and understands them.

I'll kick my own thread. I hope he makes another film w/ Carmen Maura soon. They've supposedly discussed it. It'd be cool if he'd work w/ Antonio Banderas too.
