Unexpected greatness in a role they never should have gotten.
Taking a nod from Kid_A. I got an idea of my own.

Anne Rice never wanted Tom Cruise to play Lestat. Thought he could never play the role. he was completely wrong for it etc... THEN she saw the movie and actually went on record saying how wrong she was and how Cruise impressed her.

So I ask the question. Who was cast in a role YOU thought would never do it justice or completely wrong. BUT totally blew you away with greatness.

Renee Zellweger(sp?) in the roles of Bridget Jones and Roxie Hart.

3. Catherine Zeta Jones actually has a background in musical theater.
So she's had a bit of experience with it. I think she fully deserved her Oscar.

Renee did a good job too.

4. Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
Thought he was far too tall and skinny. But he convinced me.
