DU Old-Timers: When did the last troops come out of Vietnam?
My chronology says 1973, but I know Saigon fell in 1975. When did the last boys come home? Anyone remember?

C ya,

Sorry, I know it's not helpful.

But the army officially pulled out in 1973, and the last US citizens left the embassy as Saigon fell in 1975. So you're right

3. The last U.S. Troops out of Vietnam...
Were the ones airlifted off of the embasy rooftop in April of 1975. A mad panic to get out all Americans, dependants, and essential personel. The fighting had stopped in 1973 with a bullshit treaty that Kissinger arranged but it did not hold. When we had withdrawn all but a few of our people, the Communists knew the South Vietnamese troops had no will to fight and their dream of uniting Vietnam was reachable.
It sound like these Iraqi troops were are "training" have about the same will to fight.
More will be revealed.

5. I believe 1973 was just the year the draft ended...the year I
graduated from high school.
