Is there any file-sharing program I can get West Wing on?
ABC is evil - they have scheduled "Lost" to be 61 minutes, which means it prevented Tivo from recording last week's West Wing. Well, Lost is now lost. But I didn't see last week's West Wing and I REALLY want to see the details of CJ becoming Chief of Staff.

Is there any place to get it online? Yes, I know it's very very wrong and I don't actually plan to WATCH it... I'm just asking for a friend.

1. I've been wondering how networks would strike back

against Tivo. I guess we have our answer.

That is fucked up stuff. I'd email them and tell them to knock that shit off or you'll stop watching altogether.

By the way, Bit Torrent is your best bet on this.
Suprnova is usually pretty reliable for this stuff.

2. well I did
I removed it from my list.

It wasn't a great show to begin with but the pilot was intriguing enough to give it a chance. Then it turned sort of soap-operaish and they haven't moved the story forward in weeks. So fuck 'em.

8. I guess so
if it's higher in the tivo hierarchy, it will prevent any show 9:00-10:00 show from being recorded.

3. Okay...
http://isohunt.com/torrents.php?ihq=west+wing&ext=&op=and&iht=-1

If you have Bit Torrent already, you're set. If not then I recommend getting Azureus, which will also require Java. It's easy to install and not too difficult to use.

Oh, I've gone and corrupted you! How will you ever forgive me?

Thanks for the non-help.

12. eMule
I believe he's referring to eDonkey (or eMule), which is a widely-used file-sharing program. Whether it was with concision or curtness, I have no clue.

16. I know how you feel.
The only file-sharing program I use is Soulseek, but that's only for music downloads.

Everything else is utterly frustrating.

19. do this
http://bittorrent.com/download.html

The windows installer is only a couple of megs. install the above. It is safe. I have read the source.

http://server12.vnpages.net/~allygra/ryan/the.west.wing.s06e03.hd.torrent

Right click on the above and save to your desktop. It should be a small file. When that is done double click on it and Bittorrent should start working. It takes a few minutes to get going.

And, are you behind a Router/Firewall?

22. I also suggest edonkey for TV shows.
You'll find lots of links to edonkey if you google. I believe the poster was just answering your question regarding where to find West Wing. KazaaLite will have West Wing, too.

14. That's how I watch TV these days
I just download the program with a Torrent client.

Shareaza is a free DL client that also handles torrents. It took all of two seconds to find all the WW episodes this year so far; I expect last night's ep to show up by 6AM.

If you DL the "VCD" or "SVCD" versions, you can use a free program called VCDGear to put the episodes onto a CD which will be playable in most DVD players. The quality ranges from VHS to SuperVHS level.

If you have a DVD writer, you can download the AVI files and convert them to DVD format. I intend to get a TV video card and just run a direct feed from my computer to the TV -- that's less expensive and probably produces better results.

Good luck!

15. BKL
please... can you walk me through the steps?

I downloaded the Azureus thing somebody said, and that didn't do anything. I *DO* have the basic bit-torrent client installed.

I'm begging... PLEASE just tell me how to find the episode and watch it.

17. I don't know how to use Azureus, but Shareaza is easy.
Shareaza (and similar clients like Bearshare and KaZaA) is very easy to use.

If you use a Mac instead of Windows, you'll have to look for an equivalent Mac program. I understand that there are five or six such programs for the Mac. They all work pretty much the same with only minor differences. If you understand the following steps, you will have nothing more than minor problems with just about any other such program.

(Dedicated Torrent programs are usually a little different, but they aren't too difficult, either.)

1. Download Shareaza from CNET or Shareaza

2. Install Shareaza.

3. The Search area is on the left side of the program window. Search -- Type "West Wing" in the text box, and select "any file type" or "video" in the drop-down. Then, click on the button marked "start search".

4. Within 1-5 minutes, the panel to the right will fill up with names of files. I can see over 100 files referenced that are available for download, almost all of them episodes of West Wing.

5. Click on a file you want to retrieve, then right-click. You'll get a "context menu" which includes "Download" at the top (it has a green arrow-box icon next to it, too). Click on "Download". The link will turn blue.

6. The file will either be retrieved or queued for retrieval. If you're in a hurry, select five or six files with similar names -- at least one of them should download within a minute. If you're using DSL or cable modem, download times are typically 20-60 minutes with a 450 MB video file.

File are usually named by episode.
the.west.wing.s06e01.vcd-tvl
This is the VCD version of Season 6, Episode 1.
Most of the files will be 300-450 MB per hour. They almost never include commercials.

It's quarter of five here in Philly. If you start now, and give yourself 30 minutes to install it and play around with it, you will have plenty of time to grab the first upload(s) of last night's episodes. And if you have to use a Mac program, well, give yourself an extra 15 minutes.

I'm off to do some late-night chores now -- if you have problems, I should be back in about two hours, and I'll check this thread first.

Good luck!

20. The funny thing is...
I bet that image was made with a stolen copy of photoshop. :-) My personal experience. I pirated photoshop and dreamweaver. I started using them and then got a job working with them and then my boss bought me legit copies for when I worked at home. I doubt the boss would have spring for legit copies for people that already had legit copies of the software. So Abode won in my case.

among internet users. Because I believe that Kazaa and kazaalite have the most widespread usage among p2p's.

Usually *I'm* the one bitching about spoilers. But it was an episode from 8 days ago. I mistakenly presumed anybody who cared would've seen it already. Sorry.

Your assumption is valid over 99% of the time, I'm sure. Anyway, I kinda knew something happened to Leo (although I don't know what), so this ain't that big of a revelation anyhow. :hi:
