The smoke alarms are going off but there is no smoke
I am baking french bread and there is no smoke, no fire, and the batteries are brand new in both alarms. Oven is clean. Also, the Carbon monoxide alarm is going off.

Could there be something wrong with the gas oven? If so, why would the smoke alarm be going off?

Oh, and my clothes dryer won't dry.

BTW, I shut off the oven and now my bread is toast, er, ruined. LOL

5. That happened to me when I lived in IL.
I couldn't shut them off. I ended up having to call the fire department. My Carbon monoxide detector wasn't going off though. I wouldn't mess around with that one. If you can't figure out what it is, you should probably call for help, just to be sure.

6. If you have one...
...check your attic or crawl space. If you live on the top floor of an apartment building, there could be a fire in the building attic. If you have upstairs neighbors, there might be a fire or smoke up in their unit.

8. Your Smoke Detector May Be Dirty
Sometimes dust gets in the detection chamber, causing false alarms. You can try gently dusting the components or - if you're adventurous - using a vacuum cleaner attachment. If this doesn't work, you may need to replace the unit.

12. my fire alarms have heat-rise sensors,
so they alert when the temp. in a room increases drastically, as might happen if the room was on fire. Unfortunately, they also alert from time to time when the furnace kicks in after having been off for awhile, and sometimes for no reason at all, just to keep me on my toes. No idea about the CO detector, though. Is your stuff wired through a central alarm, or are the detectors controlled separately?
