31. There's really no need to bother
with the sifter. Just whisk the dry ingredients together. Much easier.

8. Okey-doke. :^) You may want to fiddle with it some more, but this one is
edible. *g*

Preheat the oven to 350

Blend together:

4 medium mashed bananas
1/2 c molasses
1 1/2 c sugar
3 eggs
1 c unsweetened applesauce
1 melted stick of oleo
1/4 c light olive oil
2 tsp vanilla

SIFT *lol* together and add to wet mixture:

2 c white flour
2 c wheat flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder

Fold in nuts and chocolate chips if desired. (Me I usually don't have them on hand, so just make due with natural peanut butter on a slice after the fact. :P )

I realize most folks use bread pans, but I actually use a large roasting pan and make snack cake on account of my oven is whacked out and doesn't like to cook the middle of very thick food. *l* Anyway, just bake until the sides pull away, the top is brown and a fork comes out clean. (Better to overcook than undercook, in which case you will have banana-custard-wheat-bread-pudding.)

Let me know if this actually works in functional ovens? :hi:

9. Yes. I don't cook enough to be able to justify the little 3 speed
hand one I have now.

In fact, when I make yeast bread I cheat and let the bread machine do the mixing. It's useless for baking in these days, but still turns out a nice ball of dough. :)

get thee to your local Williams-Sonoma or Sur la Table and purchase three a decent mixer. now.

or at least a decent bread machine, sheesh. How can you expect to make homemade things without all the latest technology? It's not hommeade unless machines do all the work!

to move the focaccia dough from the machine to the pan.

(Although eating it later sure makes up for it! *dreamy sigh*

25. *lol* Oh no, I am no rich gal with a cook. I am a poor one who
can't be bothered to do more than run a can opener around the top of some Chef Boy-Ardee most days. Not so much because I dislike cooking so much as cleaning up afterward. No dishwasher at this house but me.

12. Help me "stick-it" to Neiman Marcus...
I received it this morning... At the delicious chance it could be true, here you go... Ahhh, that felt good... :)

THIS IS A TRUE STORY

My daughter and I had just finished a salad at a Neiman-Marcus Café in Dallas, and we decided to have a small dessert. Because both of us are such cookie lovers, we decided to try the Neiman-Marcus cookie."

It was so excellent that I asked if they would give me the recipe, and the waitress said with a small frown, "I'm afraid not, but you can buy the recipe."

Well, I asked how much, and she responded; "Only two fifty-it's a great deal!" I agreed to that, and told her to just add it to my tab.

Thirty days later, I received my VISA statement, and the Neiman-Marcus charge was $285.00!

I looked again, and I remembered I had only spent $9.95 for two salads and about $20.00 for a scarf. As Iglanced at the bottom of the statement, it said, "Cookie Recipe-$250.00."

That was outrageous!

I called Neiman's Accounting Department and told them the waitress said it was "two fifty", which clearly does not mean "two hundred and fifty dollar s" by any reasonable interpretation of the phrase.

Neiman-Marcus refused to budge. They would not refund my money because, according to them, "What the waitress told you is not our problem.

You have already seen the recipe. We absolutely will not refund your money at this point."

I explained to the Accounting Department lady the criminal statutes, which govern fraud in the
state of Texas.

I threatened to report them to the Better Business Bureau and the Texas Attorney General's office for engaging in fraud.

I was basically told, "Do what you want. Don't bother thinking of how you can get even, and don't bother trying to get any of your money back."

I just said, "Okay, you folks got my $250, and & gt; now I'm going to have $250 worth of fun."

I told her that I was going to see to it that every cookie lover in the United States with an e-mail account has a $250 cookie recipe from Neiman-Marcus for free.

She replied, "I wish you wouldn't do this." I said, "Well, perhaps you should have thought
of that before you ripped me off!" and slammed down the phone.

So here it is! Please, please, please pass it on to everyone you can possibly think of.

I paid $250 for this, and I don't want Neiman-Marcus to EVER make another penny off of this recipe!

32. Pretty good. The other interesting ingredient was rum-soaked raisins
The recipe said you could use apple cider in place of the rum.
2/3 c raisins or currants and 1/3 c dark rum or cider. Also 1/2 c chopped walnuts and 1tsp cardamom. Next time I'm going to add a little vanilla and cinnamon.
