This totally sucks!!!
I got a kitten for my daughter last Sunday. The woman told me that she was the runt, but was eating well. I got a list from her on what the kitten was eating. For 2 days she was doing great, then she started having the runs and was not cleaning her self, this was on Wednesday. Thursday, she was getting worse, she was acting to me like she was not weaned yet, that the food I was giving her was too strong, so I called the woman up. I flat out asked her how old the kitten was. She insisted that she really didn't know how old the litter was, but all the other were doing great and that the one I got was doing great. I told her that I thought she was only 4 weeks old and that she wasn't weaned yet. She said again that the kitten was the runt and that she was not used to the house yet. Well, I tried the kitten formula and baby food, the whole nine yards, to no avail, she was still messing herself and starting to get weak. This was Friday night. I was planning on taking her to the vet on Saturday morning, but when I woke up, she was almost dead. I tried stimulating her, to make her breath and using sugar water with a medicine dropper to get some fluids in her, but she did die. I feel so horrible. I feel like I could have tried more or did something different. This is the first time I have ever lost a kitten. I have a 3 year old female that I found/saved when she was 2 weeks old, and I didn't loose her. I just feel so sad!!! :-(

4. That is the same
thing that I thought about that. She shouldn't have had the add in the paper at all. Her problem was she had 3 litters that she was giving away and the were all different ages. It really broke my daughter's heart. We buried her on our property (2 acres) and said our goodbyes. :-( My daughter is only 5. It was a "ToothFarie" present. (She lost her first tooth.) But we got a new kitten today, this one is big. She is almost 3 months old and giving the other hell. But our little Mysterie will never leave our hearts, even though she was only with us a week, she did give a lot of joy. :-)

2. I'm so sorry
Keep your chin up and hold your daughter close. I'm sure she's also very sad.

5. Thank you
My daughter has not left my side since then. I wouldn't really let her either. She still asks about her, asking if she is having fun in kitty heaven. Just brings tears to your eyes.

3. My heart goes out to you. I've been in your shoes.
Not exactly the same - mine all died of feline leukemia. But it's heartbreaking. One was a ferile cat a friend had dropped off at my house. This cat never let me near her once, so it wasn't like I really knew her, but when she died I cried for half an hour.

Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

7. Oh how sad!
I lost an old friend to feline diabetis (sp?) She was 15, almost 16 and it took her real fast. I still miss that one. My parents got her when I was 6 and she was put down when I was 22. My dad couldn't do it, so I held her until the vet pronounced her gone. She was a big sweetie.

8. It was
to see this little thing try to fight, but I knew deep in my heart that if she did by chance make it back, she would have been brain damaged. I just held her in a towel, to try to keep her warm and and comfortable (the way I saw it) until she took her last breath. It was truely sad. ;(

9. hang in there,...
try to remember the time you had together, however short. Does sound like you got one a bit too young. Sometimes when they start to go south, they just sort of shut down, and rarely can you bring them back, no matter how hard you try.

And people can be such creeps!!! Kittens are so cute, but they are such a handful when young...

My heart goes out to you...
