Doe anyone else's Mozilla Firefox crash on them often?
I switched a couple of months ago, and it has crashed numerous times. Each time was as as I was hitting "post" on DU after finishing a post.

And I wish it wouldn't ask me if I want to send an error report. No. I want you to not crash after I've composed a lengthy post on DU, thank you.

1. Sometimes mine crashes...
but usually it's pretty stable. Are you using a Mac or a Win? I'm on a Mac.

4. PC notebook.
Same as my husband, only he doesn't have that problem.

But, computers hate me. It's a documented fact.

2. Yes, the exact same thing happens to me
I'm on OS X 10.2.8, and it always happens when i'm previewing, spellchecking, or posting on DU. Yes, I know I should upgrade, but i'm waiting for the next version to come out.

21. Me, too. I think it's because my laptop has very little space left on it

25. I don't think it's a space issue
I have about 62 gbs of free space. I think it's a windows xp issue. that would really not surprise me. My system is the picture in the dictionary next to the definition of 'unstable'. :eyes:

still. I love the FireFox

26. Mine works flawlessly on XP, but crashes on my win 98SE all the time---
generally after I've had lots and lots of windows open, and have received really big email attachments, and the laptop tells me "You have run out of disk space on drive C, please free some now" or something like that. I think I clog up all my virtual memory or whatever it is, and when I reboot then it's fine for a long time.

Dunno---it DOES seem to do most of its crashing on DU, tho.

29. I've got a couple of gigs of space left
I just downloaded 1.0, so hopefully that'll fix any problems.

9. Aside from the occasional crash
I love it. Feature wise, it is the best browser for me. But, it could not pick a more annoying time to decide to crash. When you're in the middle of a flame war in GD, momentum is everything :)

I have little patience for computers when they don't work right, to the consternation of my computer geek husband.

7. I've had a hellacious few days....
But I'm not sure if it was just Mozilla. I may need a new floppy disk drive- A isn't recognized (freezes when I try to use it) and I have probably done considerable damage in my frustrated attempts to make it *well* again. Barring a deluge of rain tomorrow - I get to do the dreaded 'unplug everything and drag it to my tech saviors'. As someone who discovered computers at age 65, I take it as a personal affront when it balks! Without DU and the 'internets', I'd have succumbed to terminal boredom by now.

14. Yes and Every time I sent a report
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 11:28 PM by mlle_chatte
I had it crashing 1-2 times a day. If you don't send the reports they don't know what to fix. The more reports they get on the same problem, the easier it is for them to find and fix.

Are you use live bookmarks? (RSS) I suggest you get rid of them, they've acknowledged a bug.

Is there a red arrow up in the right corner, arond the 'go' button or google box? that means an update is available and if you click it, it will download and i think install the update...

I have only had one crash since I did those 2 things

16. I'll start sending the reports then
I was always too annoyed to deal with it and didn't figure it would really help.

I'm not sure about the bookmarks. I just asked him, and he said he didn't know, he never set them up that way, and he'll check.

Your post is helpful, thanks :)

17. another thing that works sometimes
uninstall, download again and reinstall. Tomorrow they are releasing new FireFox. Your settings, bookmarks and cookies will be saved and appear when you open the newly installed browser.

18. Not nearly as often as Internet Explorer crashed on me.
It's quite amazing, IMO. The best thing to do when composing a lenght post is to copy the text. If you want to be even safer, paste it in Notepad and save the file.

24. Nope
Firefox hardly ever crashes on me. I've been using it for over a year now as my primary browser, and as of the last few releases I've had almost no crashes. Maybe 3 or 4 in as many months. It's truly a fantastic piece of software. I love it.

28. I use it with XP home on a laptop, XP pro at work on a Dell PC,
and I had it on a Mac G5, OS X and no problems with DU; other than DU traffic issues during busy times.

I'm running the newest stable, not nightly version.
