Today at school, as I was calmly munching away on my cheesebuger and listening to my friends rattle on about books, Alica, one of my closer new friends, shrieked.
She found three moldy peas in her salad.
Not one, but three.
Elizabeth, who was seriously giving her pizza the eyeball, poked her food. The pizza was cold. I don't mean like freezer cold, but still cold, like 'Don't eat me' cold.
I pushed away my cheeseburger in disgust, not even thinking about what might be in my food. And, as Alica threw her salad away and went up to complain to the lunchroom lady, I observed Payden as he made a face over his milk. He then slammed it down on the table, and it cracked. The milk inside was one solid chunk.
Is it just me, or is that a LITTLE wrong?
I mean, food should not be moldy, cold, or a solid chunk of ice.
Payden showed his milk carton to the lunchlady, who threw it away and gave him a new one. Boy, he looked steamed as he walked back to his table. When he sat down, he complained none to quietly about how school food sucks and how they're trying to kill us.
Oi... Has your child been given food like that? I know it is a little ungrateful, but I mean, if pizza isn't heated enough, peas are moldy, and milk is a solid CHUNK OF ICE, can we sue the school? I mean, who knows what other people were eating, and I shudder to think what Alica had eaten before she found the mold.
Grossage.
And mom told me I should think of the soldiers in Iraq. I don't mean to be ungrateful, but what did WE DO?! We need good food to keep going in school!!!
