1. Depends on what caused it
Mine usually go away by 5pm IF I'm able to lie in a dark dark quiet quiet room for hours. Then it's tomato soup for dinner.

7. I think I have tomato soup in the cabinet..will have to check
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 07:18 PM by ikojo
that out as well as take some Excedrin PM. I've taken Imitrex which kind of softened the headache but it's still here...oy vey is it still here. I think that if I wake up with it tomorrow I'll go to the ER where they can give me some REALLY good drugs. I am thankful to have bosses who know that I don't lie about these things and UNDERSTAND that it is not *just* a headache.

This is the worst I have had in a few years....I usually don't vomit with them but this one I did.

Thanks for the suggestions!

3. caffeine (6 oz of Pepsi or 1/2 a dose of Excedrine Migraine)
Or you can take the pepsi with Advil. Then Sleep.

Basically caffeine and pain killers work for me. I've found advil works the best and tylonel doesn't do much.

6. Agreed, but excederin works better than advil. I think
esp if you take it with caffeine!

4. I'm a headache expert.
I used to get them all of the time. Take some ice in bag and put it on the part of your head that is throbbing. Leave it on for a while. It will really help. It shrinks the blood vessles in your head that are hurting you. What medicine have you taken?

8. I've taken Excedrin and Imitrex so far today....and I am talking
beginning around 5AM.

I will get some ice and put it on my aching head. I took a warm bath and massaged my head and that felt a bit better but it is still throbbing.

5. I'm getting them too
for the first time in my life.

I attribute it to sitting in front of the computer day and night, while frowning.

For instant relief, apply accupressure on the temples. Unfortunatly, when you remove the pressure, the headache is still there.

10. 1) step away from monitor 2) espresso or cappuccino 3) 200mg Ibuprofen
Most important for me is to get away from the damn monitor get the strong coffee for caffeine and Ibuprofen as anti-inflammatory.

11. An ice pack on the back of my head makes me feel immensely better.
My migraines always make me feel as if the back of my head is swollen. Two Vicodins and an ice pack relieve them for me. Best of luck. I am sorry you are not feeling so well.

or Excedrin Migraine...I have had migraines for my whole life.
Coffee and aspirin. A drug called cafergot (prescription) has always worked for me.

13. All the advice here is good.
For me it's excedrin and an ice pack on the affected side of the head. But why are you on the computer? Surely a darkened room and rest are what you need.

14. Find a massage therapist qualified to give NMT
Neuro-Muscular Technique

Show them where your headache is, and they will know where it's coming from, and help eradicate the trigger points that are causing them.
