Thieves Use Blowtorch To Break Into ATM - Burn Up All The Cash

A GANG of incompetent British thieves who tried to break into an automated cash point using a blow torch saw their plans - and the money - go up in smoke when the machine caught fire, police said.

The offenders tried to break into the cash dispenser at a filling station near Worcester, central England, using oxyacetylene cutters, a spokesman for the local West Mercia Police said.

"The attempted theft, which was reported to police at 12.10am today (Friday), resulted in the cash machine catching fire, when the would-be thieves made off," he said.

Police were appealing for witnesses to the attempted theft.

5. This happened in Pittsburgh YEARS ago

A group stole a front-loaded, somehow attached it to the ATM, yanked it out of the wall, and towed it away. The same thing happened when they tried to cut it open with blowtorches.

I guess it is tough to come up with a new way of doing things, even in crime B-)
