HAPPY BIRTHDAY, IKE TURNER!
Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 07:21 PM by NightTrain
Ike Turner was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi on November 5, 1931.

OK, so he's not the nicest person you'll ever meet, but Ike Turner was undeniably responsible for some of the finest R&B ever waxed. On top of his legendary recordings with Tina, Ike also was the creative genius behind what many consider the first true rock and roll record: Jackie Brenston's "Rocket 88." Throughout the '50s, Turner also churned out many kick-ass recordings with his band, the Kings of Rhythm. One of my personal favorites (credited to band member Billy Gayles) is the 1956 blues rocker, "I'm Tore Up."

Happy birthday, Ike! :toast::yourock::party::bounce: Just don't celebrate it by beating someone up, OK? :eyes:
