Did being on DU so much make me delusional? I NEVER thought this
would happen. I could not see Americans actually choosing that scumbag to be their leader. What a sad, sad day for all people who really value freedom.

2. I am beginning to feel the same way
I have an excuse, though, since I live on the other side of the globe these days.

4. Yes, I think it did.
For me, too.

I simply can't believe that people would vote against their own interests because of "moral values". They are okay with being jobless, economically depressed, possibly homeless, as long as gays don't have the right to marry. Who are these people?

Well, I think that's a really important question. It boggles the mind, but I think we have to start trying to understand these rural, Christian, whatever they are, voters. If we ignore them, we are going to keep losing elections. They're out there, and they vote like crazy.

7. I hate to agree with you, but perhaps.
But at least WE were educated, and tried to pass what we learned on to others. I'm afraid that I may have to take a brief sabbatical from DU to recalibrate after all this.

10. I worked the hardest and gave the most $$ to this campaign and was
sure that if it was done legally that we would win hands down.

8. I don't think so
I am as pessimistic as they come. I never believed the "landside" posts and was a nervous wreck for weeks.

However, I started to feel confident as the final polls came out and the exit polls agreed. Even without DU I would be just as shocked because exits are never this far off and I saw how the mood was on the ground in Ohio. I don't think I'll ever understand what happened.

I'll admit it, 4 years ago, I was a Bush supporter. Hard core. Most of that because of my parents and upbringing. But I changed. I started to realize that not EVERYTHING is my business. I have no right to tell someone else what to do with their body. I have no right to tell another citizen, voter, taxpayer, that they have no rights because of their sexual preference. It's wrong. PERIOD!

My mother and I had an argument this morning about the election. I told her I was scared...still am. You know her response....Well Kerry is for abortion and Gay rights. Mine, it's a moral issue, not a legal one and has no place even being discussed. Not only that, Roe v. Wade has been around for 26 years...what makes her think it will change now....It's over, done. I understand that Bush will be able to pick a Supreme Court Justice, and with a Republican Congress...*shudder*...all of our rights and liberties are in jeopardy and all my mom cares about is GAYS!!!!!!!

2 million jobs LOST
the largest deficit in how long????

And Gays not being allowed to marry is the issue she decides with?!

What a load of @#%$&*!

On another note, I heard, somewhere, that after a decline in recent years, the abortion rate has actually INCREASED since **** got into office. Anyone know of a good place to verify this? If true, here's something to hit them with.....and I'd love to swing the bat.

EDIT:*** Sorry, I thought I was logged in and it was my husband. My username is ELFRANGEL....

Sorry for the mixup...don't be too hard on him.

14. Nothing seems to matter to his supporters. I once wrote that he could
commit murder on TV and say that it would protect us against terror and that would be okay with them. Totally, totally scary.
