The lounge is a real downer today
The election isn't even over yet. It's a new day and I'm sure that the Kerry people are doing what they can if they believe they have a chance here.
As for this country "turning right", it is basically split down the middle. We are not really the minority here, we just have a little more of a battle to win each time we want change. Looking back through history, any change was brought by a bigger battle than keeping things the same.
I hate to say this, but if you want to be on the progressive or liberal team, you WILL have bigger battles to fight. The conservatives are people who don't battle for what they believe, they are the majority because they are afraid to fight for what they believe, and there are more lazy people than fighters. When they do start to "fight" they bully and cheat to get what they want. Being progressive means that the cards are stacked against you 9 times out of 10...that's the way it is and always have been.
Just do me a favor and think of the major progressive changes in this country. Racial rights, woman's rights and sexual rights are just a few of the issues that have been a battle since they have begun. What would have happened if the early pioneers of those issues would have given up after four years? It isn't easy to be a liberal. It isn't a cakewalk if you have compassion, love and concern for your fellow man and future generations.
I'm not trying to be a dick, and I know people are bummed out and pissed, but let's try to shake it off and think of what we are going to do for change next.
Oh, and don't flame me..LOL

4. A lot of it is that we're all tired today.
I, for one, didn't get a wink of sleep last night.

I imagine that a lot of us are just working on jangled nerves and anger and sleeplessness today. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm working on pure emotion right now.

6. I know man..
Trust me, I was pissed off last night and had a hard time sleeping. I woke up an hour before my alarm went off and came here.
I understand where you are coming from and like I said in your thread...I apologize on behalf of my state for them blindly passing the marriage issue.
All we can do is fight some more, and there will be many of pissed off days to come. But I have faith that we will continue to move forward on the "liberal" issues, and we will pick up numbers along the way.
